ZAMOOF! had the chance to be a part of an interview with Steven Spielberg, the producer and director of 3D film, “The Adventures of Tintin.” Check it out!

Z!: Knowing that Hergé (the writer of the Tintin book series) felt you could only do the film justice, how did that affect your decision making going into production?

Steven Spielberg:  Well, maybe it was good that I went into it with blinders on because when I read the first Tintin in 1981, I read them unaware that 220 million books were going to be sold and probably a 150 million had been sold since its inception in 1929. I didn’t know there were legions of fans in Europe and Asia who learned to read, and learned a values system based on the adventure series. If I had known this, I would had been a lot more intimidated on the telephone when I told him that I loved his books and wanted to make movies out of them. He in turn said he’d seen “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and was really, really enthusiastic about that and thought that I was a good choice to adapt his books. That was in ’83 by the way when I spoke to him. Read More »

Every year over 40,000 Canadian boys and girls, aged 5-18, are registered in Little League programs across the country. Being involved in Little League is not only about winning games, but winning in the game of life building character, courage and loyalty in its players. The program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

Little League Canada is divided into five Regions: Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes, the Prairies, and BC. Worldwide, the number of kids playing Little League ball swells to 3 million, in over 100 countries.

At the end of the regular season, each league holds try-outs for All Star teams. Each District holds its championship during the second week of July, consisting of All Star teams from each league. Winners of District Championships move on to represent their Districts at Provincials/ Regionals.

The Canadian Region of Little League was formed in 1958 and until 1965 consisted only of teams from Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes. The first ever Canadian title was won by Valleyfield LL (Quebec), in 1958.

Now, you may think… Another one? But you’ll find no disappointment here. This movie is just as exciting as the first three in the series. You are on an adventure from the very get-go of the film, sitting at the edge of your seat wondering both: ‘Why did he get himself into this mess, which was clearly avoidable?’ and ‘How will he get out of it?’ As usual, you will find Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) to be as fun and enjoyable, fumbling his way out of yet another mess!

There are the usual bad guys such as cruel Captain Blackbeard (Ian McShane). Most of the sailing on this venture is done on his ship. You will again meet Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) with his character carrying out its own turn in the story. There is a touch of romance with a few of the charters and a couple of nice twists throughout, just to keep you curious. Read More »
